A long-considered and carefully planned combination. The sire chosen for Lilibet's first litter is my own 8-year-old homebred Routa, who has convincing proof as a sire from four litters. The next generation is already continuing through his sons. Given his age, Routa is at the point where the right moment is now, not later.
Sire
FI CH Riemumielen Hurjausi Kuunvalossa (Routa)
Routa is an 8-year-old champion male, genetically clear of eye disease, with a lovely expression and beautiful movement, and with convincing proof as a sire. He is an excellent producer from my own Sansa line (RTK3 PAIMâT Goldentroll's Song Of Ice And Fire).
Routa lives an active everyday life with a family with children, and he is a lively, active and friendly male. His ears have become erect since his show career. Apart from shows, Routa has not done other dog sports.
Routa's dam is my own dog Sansa, who did a wide range of dog sports and has proven to pass on excellent temperament and health. Routa's only littermate, Kaisla (FCI-StöPr1 BH RTK4 PAIM-T Riemumielen Hurjasusi Nymeria), lives with us and is a handy sporting dog who never had offspring herself.
Both Routa and his sister Kaisla are now 8 years old, and their 10-year-old dam Sansa has been able to live a healthy and active life. Sansa's other litters also include several collies doing very well in dog sports. What these dogs have in common temperament-wise is drive â good motivation, energy and eagerness to work.
Dam

Lilibet is a 2-year-old active, open and beautifully moving champion female. With her we do shows, rally obedience, obedience, and from the working-dog disciplines search and tracking.
By basic temperament Lilibet is a little calmer than Routa. Her drive level is not especially high, which shows as steadier work. Even so, she gets excited about doing things and is especially motivated by toy rewards.
She has passed the behavioural breeding assessment, and a video of it is available (see Lilibet's own page). Herding instinct test passed with an eager performance.
Lilibet has done very well in the show ring and has results in rally obedience. Lilibet has natural ears and a lovely tail carriage. Several of her littermates are active in dog sports.

Goals for this combination
đ Health and a balanced temperament
đš All colours possible
â
Puppies CEA-clear
đ To show and/or sporting homes
đ¶ Females primarily to co-ownership homes
The goal is a Rough Collie you can do many things with â try different disciplines and build your own path in dog sports with a relaxed and good-humoured approach, without frowns. An interest in dog sports is always a happy plus, and as a breeder who does dog sports myself, I'm glad to come along on the journey, even though a top sporting dog can never be promised.
I hope for homes that are cooperative and committed to the dog's PEVISA health screening as an adult. For any female puppies, a co-ownership home takes priority.

Enquiries about litters
For any Rough Collie puppies that may be born, I'm looking for active homes interested in dog sports that commit to having the dog officially health-screened as an adult. For Rough Collies, health screening means the official PEVISA examinations of hips, elbows and eyes.
Where possible, I place a female puppy from the litter in a co-ownership home that does dog sports and is cooperative, primarily in southern Finland. You can read more about co-owned dogs, for example, here: What is a co-owned dog? | Hankikoira (in Finnish)
Puppies are sold and go to their new homes vet-checked, eye-examined and officially registered. The puppies are born in Kerava, Finland.
If you're interested in future litter plans, please get in touch by email first, as my work means I can't always answer the phone: heidi [AT] bechste [DOT] in

The Rough Collie
in brief
Please get to know the breed thoroughly before getting a puppy. The Rough Collie is an active herding and working breed, created to move and to work in cooperation with people. It needs consistent everyday manners training and enough physical and mental activity throughout its life to thrive and to be a pleasant member of the family. The Rough Collie is a medium-sized dog: males are 56â61 cm at the withers and weigh about 20â29 kg as adults, females 51â56 cm and about 18â25 kg.
In the Rough Collie a dense undercoat covers the whole skin, and a long, harsh, weather-resistant outer coat covers the undercoat. Males have a magnificent mane and females long breeching. Collie colours are sable, tricolour and blue merle.
