Temperament description

The Rough Collie female Fiona (RTK1 Arttulan Öili Tuliruusu) came to us as a rehomed dog at 3 years of age in June 2014. Fiona's dam Kiki (Arttulan Rentun Ruusu) is the daughter of our Riku (Maple Yard Apocalyptica), and Fiona's sire is the Canadian import Baxter (Glasgowhills Love Me Tender). In her previous home Fiona was a co-owned dog of Arttulan kennel, but the co-ownership agreement was ended, the dog returned to her breeder and came to us from there. I was interested in Fiona especially because of her lines, and because she is the granddaughter of my own dog Riku.

Fiona is very sociable and open with people, really greedy, lively and loves playing with toys. She has no fear of surfaces. She is a very strong-willed personality who makes herself seen and heard. In our pack she is fairly dominant towards the other females. After she settled in with us, I tried the basics of several dog sports with Fiona, such as agility, obedience and rally obedience, where she has the novice-class RTK1 title. She has also been to one dog show, with erect ears.

Unfortunately Fiona reacts to noises and gunshots with fear and is fairly nervous by nature. Her earlier life may show in her behaviour.

Fiona was spayed in 2016, among other things because of strong phantom pregnancy symptoms and generalised noise sensitivity. Fiona has not been used for breeding.
