Temperament description

The sable Rough Collie Sansa (RTK3 PAIM-T Goldentroll’s Song Of Ice And Fire) was a lively, eager-to-work, playful and speedy female with a very good appetite. By temperament she was a little reserved with strangers, but friendly and kind. Sansa was also sociable with other dogs and cats. Sansa was a basically healthy dog with no fear of surfaces.

With Sansa I did nosework and rally obedience, where she earned the open-class RTK3 title and the right to compete in the master class. Sansa never got to compete officially in nosework.

Sansa had a strong herding instinct: she passed the Finnish Collie Club's unofficial herding instinct test at 9 months of age and the official FCI herding instinct test (PAIM-T) at 1 year of age. We continued herding just for fun, with no further competition goals.

Sansa and I did volunteer work as a visiting dog team with Suomen Karva-Kaverit ry. Sansa passed the Karva-Kaverit suitability test at 7 months of age and visited care homes as a visiting dog.

Sansa gave birth to three Riemumielen litters: 22.12.2017 (Hurjasudet), 2.5.2019 (Game Of Thrones) and her third litter on 8.7.2022 (Ihmeellinen Illusia). She was an excellent mother to her puppies.

Sansa was the daughter of a son (Maple Yard End Of Limits) of our late male Riku (Maple Yard Apocalyptica).

Sansa was a wonderful dog, a friend, a caring mother and a role model for the rest of the pack. We miss her enormously.

Sansa is not particularly interested in strangers, but she actively explores a new space. Sansa is a speedy dog, motivated and eager for everything she does. Sansa is somewhat impulsive, but she never gets over-aroused at any point. Sansa reads human gestures excellently and is a quick spatial problem-solver. Sansa uses both problem-solving strategies – independent and relying on people – evenly. It's worth practising calm waiting with Sansa – in the memory task her restlessness probably affected the result. Sansa can also imitate what a human demonstrates, and she overcame her fear of the "treat machine".
