The first Riemumielen litter got under way when Riemu and Jacky had a successful date in Forssa at the beginning of February 2016. After an exciting wait, the pregnancy ultrasound at the end of February showed several foetuses. Riemu was lively and well throughout the pregnancy, gained a suitable amount of weight and enjoyed her food, except on the day of the birth itself.
Labour started normally at home in the afternoon of 2.4, on day 62. Seven vigorous sable puppies were born in the whelping box: 3 females and 4 males. All the puppies grew without problems from the start with good mothering; there was plenty of milk, and we never once needed to give milk replacer.
The puppies were well socialised: lots of friends came to admire them with their children, and they played outside in the garden several times a day. Before going to their new homes, the puppies were health-checked, eye-examined (Sari Jalomäki), DNA-tested for DM (Laboklin) and puppy-tested (Anne Rekola).
Time with the puppies flew by, and now I wish the puppies' new homes a wonderful life together!
