Who we are

Our website address is: https://www.riemumielen.fi
This site is owned by Heidi Bechstein, owner and manager of Riemumielen kennel, located in Kerava, Finland. Heidi is the controller of the personal data described below.
You'll find the email address in the footer of every page.

What personal data we collect and why

Blog comments

When you leave a comment on the blog, we collect the data shown in the comment form (name, email address and the comment), as well as your IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam. Comments are published only after moderation. Your email address is never shown publicly; it is only used if we need to contact you about your comment.

Blog subscription

If you subscribe to email notifications about new blog posts, we store your name, email address, your language choice(s), your IP address and the dates of your subscription. The subscription only becomes active after you confirm it through the link sent to your email address. Every notification contains a link where you can pause or delete your subscription at any time.

Spam protection

The comment and subscription forms may use Google reCAPTCHA to tell people and bots apart. reCAPTCHA sends information such as your IP address and browser details to Google. Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Media

Visitors can't upload images to this site. Please note, however, that images you send us (for example by email) may contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS).

Cookies

Necessary cookies are always used, because the site doesn't work properly without them: a session cookie and a security cookie that protects the forms (CSRF token), plus a cookie that remembers your cookie choices. These cookies contain no personal data that would identify you.

Analytics cookies are used only if you accept them in the cookie settings. Analytics (for example Google Analytics) helps us understand how the site is used – for example how long visitors stay and which pages they visit – so that we can improve the site. You can change your choice at any time via "Change cookie settings" in the footer.

Advertising

Blog pages show ads from Google AdSense, but only if you accept advertising cookies in the cookie settings – without your consent, no ads are loaded and no advertising cookies are set. Google and its partners use cookies to show and measure ads, and to personalise ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can withdraw your consent at any time via "Change cookie settings" in the footer. More information: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Embedded content from other websites

Pages and articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. YouTube videos). Embedded content from other websites behaves in exactly the same way as if you had visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including tracking it if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

How long we keep your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are kept for as long as the post is on the site, unless you ask us to remove them.

Subscription data is kept until you delete your subscription. You can delete it yourself via the link in any notification email.

Your rights over your data

You have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, and to have it corrected or erased. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes. If you believe your data is being processed unlawfully, you can lodge a complaint with the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi).

Where your data is sent

Comments and subscriptions are stored on this site's server. Where the services described above are used (reCAPTCHA, analytics, AdSense, YouTube), data is also sent to Google.
